FALL

My most favorite childhood memory of the Fall season is when we would pack up a lunch and go on the mountain to get wood for the Winter. The leaves on the Aspen trees were all varying shades of vibrant warm colors. I remember the smells of pine trees in the crisp clean air. While dad would cut the tree, we would run around the forest. Some cousins once told us a story about finding a baby bunny in one of the trees they cut down for fire wood and had to take it home and nurse it back to health. From the point I heard that story I was on a mission to find a baby bunny of my own. This kept me quite busy until Dad would holler for us to come and help load the wood in the truck. I was a little saddened that I had to return with no bunny but of course always did what I was told. I will be honest that loading was a dreaded task. We not only had to place the wood on the bed of the truck but organize it in such a way that it could all fit. That always seemed to be impossible. However one thing that I appreciate from this task was how it taught each of us about teamwork. Our loads of wood were never small by any means, but with the work of everyone we accomplished a task that we never thought possible.

Oh the memories, I wish I could go back and re-live some of them! They were so great. Just yesterday I was thinking about how we truly did live a very BLESSED life. We grew up in a great place, had a TON of great family, and mom and day always made for the best childhood memories for us!

This is one of my favorite pictures, it just goes to show that I DID contribute to Boston's blonde locks. ;) Oh I want my posts back so I can write a fall post now :(

And now you live somewhere that you don't even need to turn on the heater all winter. Joy.

Not. I miss the snow.

I can relate to this post. One I love the fall, and not just because my birthday happens in November, but because our family did similar things. Like work together. Funny how nowadays that is a bad word. But we find great memories because we worked as a family. Thanks for reminding me!!

I think I remember this picture way back in your guys home! All you women have these nostalgic (sp?) memories of the lunch and woods and family. All that picture would do for me is knowing the bulls are screaming and its time to go hunting :) Nice to see you again!
